The Board of Directors for Southern Cross Boston Terrier Rescue, a 501 (c) (3) organization, is composed of qualified individuals from across the United States. Our board is composed of individuals who are committed to improving the lives of abused or unwanted pets.

Jason Dickens

President

Jason is an animal lover at heart and developed a fondness for Boston Terriers after rescuing his first Boston, Daisey, over 10 years ago. Jason has been an active community member in KY since 1990, serving 13 years as a Firefighter. Jason began volunteering as a foster for SCBTR in 2017 and joined the Board of Directors in 2018. Jason and his wife, Lisa, have 6 fur babies (a German Shepherd named Yenko, a Great Pyrenees named Cuda and four Boston Terriers – Daisey, Dozer, Tater, and Carbon. Jason works full-time as the Senior Enterprise Infrastructure & System Engineering Manager for a large global manufacturing company.

Tara Bailey

VICE PRESIDENT

Tara is an animal lover who developed an early love for Boston Terriers after growing up with them. She first joined SCBTR as a volunteer in 2015, where she served as a foster and transporter. Through fostering, her dedication and respect for the rescue continued to grow. Tara joined the Board of Directors as Vice President in 2019. Finding a loving foster home for a boston in need is still one of her favorite duties as Vice President! Currently, Tara has a Frenchton named Lenox, and a Boston Terrier named Yoda, whom she rescued with SCBTR. 

Kim Jones

TREASURER

Kim has been a volunteer with SCBTR since 2015 and now serves as the on the Board of Directors as our Treasurer.  She lives in TN with her SCBTR alumni dog Tony and grand-dog Dolly that bring her and her family lots of joy.

Traci Belt

Secretary

Traci adopted her first Boston Terrier, Stormy, in 1998, and he developed within her a lifelong love for this energetic, entertaining, and lovable breed.  Volunteering to help save these precious pups is her passion. Traci currently has a Boston Terrier named Jeb and a Boston/Boxer mix named Parker. Both are SCBTR alums and her pride and joy. Traci holds a Master’s Degree in History and is a Public Historian. She is also a published author whose writings focus on the history of her home state of Tennessee.

Wyndi Harp-Carson & Wayne Carson

Wyndi is a co-founder of SCBTR.  She and her late husband, Wayne Carson, fell in love with this breed and have fostered and adopted many throughout the years. Wyndi is owned by a French Bulldog named Eden that is a SCBTR alumni. She and Eden live in Nashville.

Lisa Steffian

Lisa has been involved in animal rescue for over 20 years, but found her forever family at SCBTR.  She and her now teenage daughters have owned 3 rescue Bostons so far, and are devoted to the breed.  Lisa has a Ph.D in Developmental Psychology and now enjoys her second career as a middle school librarian in Virginia.

Sonja Smith

FOSTER & MEDICAL
coordinator

Sonja has volunteered extensively with Pug Rescue Austin – fostering, transporting and providng medical coordination for incoming dogs.  Sonja first became involved with SCBTR when she applied to adopt a sibling for her dog, Dixie.  Sonja is originally from California and Texas, but now resides in Louisville, KY and is a faculty member at the University of Louisville, teaching ASL/English Interpreting.
